BH Live, Bournemouth’s leisure and cultural trust which operates the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre, is seeking to attract local people who are interested in forming a brand new ‘Friends of the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre’ group which is planned to launch in 2012.
Joined by BH Live staff from the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre, an elected group of ‘Friends’ will be formed and members encouraged, on a voluntary basis, to conceive, create and carry out community fundraising projects to help towards improving and investing into the theatre’s facilities for the benefit of the 200,000 people who visit the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre each year.
BH Live will support the ‘Friends’ group by accommodating regular meetings at the Bournemouth Pavilion and providing the venue for fundraising activities. It is also anticipated that there will be social opportunities and benefits to recognise the dedication and commitment it takes to become a ‘Friend’.
Paul Griffiths, Bournemouth Pavilion General Manager, who will be involved with the ‘Friends of the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre’ group explains the reasons behind this proposed scheme. He said: “Having previously worked with successful ‘Friends of’ groups, the overwhelming motivation for people to join, is to be actively involved with the Theatre and play an vital role in raising the necessary funds to enable essential restoration and improvements which will in turn benefit future audiences.
He adds, “We are looking for people who are as passionate about the Theatre as we are, to come and find out more about becoming a Friend of the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre’ and to see how they could help to make a difference.”
