NSPCC calls on local businesses to get festive for ChildLine

The NSPCC is calling on local businesses in Bournemouth to get into the festive spirit by sponsoring and decorating a tree at the Festival of Christmas Trees. The event, which will be held at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) on Wednesday 7 December is in aid of the ChildLine, the UK’s free 24-hour confidential helpline for children and young people.

Local businesses who take part will have an opportunity to decorate their tree between 10am and 12pm in whichever way they choose. The Deputy Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor Barry Goldbart, will then join in the festive fun at 2pm to judge the best decorated tree.

All trees will be prominently positioned throughout the BIC during the festive season for all visitors to see.

Steve Piper Head of Venues for BH Live, the leisure and cultural trust which manages and operates the Bournemouth International Centre, states: “We are all getting into the festive spirit at the BIC in preparation for the RAWK Ice Rink which opens on Saturday 3rd December and are really looking forward to hosting the Festival of Trees which will add a touch of seasonal sparkle whilst simultaneously supporting the NSPCC. The tree display will be open to the public from 7th December and we are urging local businesses to take part and residents to come along and take a look.”

Community fundraising manager for Bournemouth, Jo Winsborough, said: “This is a really great way for local businesses to support the ChildLine service while at the same time helping to raise their own profile within the local community.”

The cost of sponsoring a medium size tree is £250 with larger trees costing £500.. Alternatively, companies can sponsor Christmas wreaths for £50..

All money raised from this event will go towards supporting ChildLine. The service, currently celebrating its 125th anniversary, offers comfort, advice and protection to children and young people.

If your company is interested in sponsoring a tree or wreath, please contact community fundraising manager Jo Winsborough on 01256 773054.
