Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and the Pavilion

BIC to bloom in 2013

BH Live, the leisure and cultural trust which manages and operates the Bournemouth International Centre, is delighted to confirm that the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS) will be bringing their National Show, exhibition and competitions to Bournemouth in 2013.

Hoping to welcome over 8,000 visitors during a three day period, this prestigious annual event, which takes place across the UK, will attract flower arranging amateurs and professionals from around the world who come together to compete, demonstrate and share their flower arranging expertise and latest techniques.

Contributing an estimated £6 million into the local economy through business tourism, the National Show will be open to the public from 11 to 13 July 2013 and aims to bring together members and visitors who will inspire future flower arrangers from the region including local residents, community groups and college students.

Whilst this event is logistically challenging, requiring delicate climate control and exacting environmental standards, organisers are extremely confident that the Bournemouth International Centre will be able to rise to the challenge and provide their visitors with a truly marvellous experience.

Margaret Marriott, NAFAS Publicity Officer said; “NAFAS is delighted to be returning to Bournemouth and the Bournemouth International Centre.  Our National Shows, which are growing in size year on year, run on a cyclical basis and we travel all around the UK to demonstrate the latest techniques, provide free workshops, talks and meet the newest talent in the industry. Our motto is fun, friendship and flowers so members and visitors will be particularly looking forward to coming to Bournemouth, spending time in the town, socialising with fellow members and enjoying everything the town has to offer from the stunning beaches to the award winning gardens.”

She adds, “During the National Show we will also be aiming to inspire the next generation of flower arrangers to join our inspirational art form enabling each individual to express themselves in a unique way, creating floral art, sculptures and displays with  a wide range of materials including plants, flowers, foliage, wood, other natural resources and lights.”

Steve Piper, Head of Venues for BH Live, the leisure and cultural trust which manages and operates the Bournemouth International Centre added; “It is fantastic to be once again welcoming NAFAS who have been working closely in association with BH Live to bring their annual event to Bournemouth. We are very much looking forward to welcoming NAFAS members and visitors to the town for what will be a truly inspirational event as they display and demonstrate this beautiful and creative art form.”

To see an exclusive preview of what’s to come at the National Show, NAFAS will be creating a stunning display in the Bournemouth International Centre Foyer and Bourne Lounge to celebrate National Flower arranging Day on Friday 4th May 2012 which will be available for the public to view.
