The annual general meeting of The Freemasons’ Grand Charity is being held on Saturday 27th September at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC). Approximately 450 to 600 guests are expected to fill the BIC’s Tregonwell and Purbeck Halls.
Part of the meeting will see grants for a wide selection of national charities, totalling £2.3m, be approved for payment. Over three years The Freemason’s Grand Charity has raised £72,000 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and representatives will present a cheque that will go towards Crew training.
At 1.30pm the RNLI will be doing a lifesaving demonstration, including a lifesaving crew and Coastguard helicopter. It will last about half an hour and will take place off Bournemouth Pier, opposite the BIC. Guests of the event will watch the demonstration from the Sea and Cliff path outside the BIC.
The Vice Grand President, the Rt Hon Lord Lane of Horsell, will chair the meeting, which has been organised with the support of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Guest speakers include Paul Arengo-Jones of the Breast Cancer Haven, Shirley Metherell of the Elizabeth Foundation and Bryn Parry of Help for Heroes.
Anyone interested in learning more about The Freemasons’ Grand Charity is welcome to attend, including non-Masons.
