Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and the Pavilion

Double Chance for BIC and Pavilion at Bournemouth Tourism Awards

The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and Pavilion have been short listed for two awards at the Bournemouth Tourism Awards 2008; Outstanding Customer Service of the Year and Best Evening Experience – Entertainment of the Year. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday 27th November at the Opera House, Boscombe, with special guest speaker Wayne Hemingway MBE.

In order to enter the awards, businesses had to complete and submit an application along with supporting evidence. Questions ranged from customer care to investment in staff training and development, from accessibility to innovative marketing and environmental policies.

Clive Tyers, Head of Conferences, Exhibitions and Events at the BIC and Pavilion said of the announcement: “To be short listed for two awards is great and follows on from a year of awards success for us! We won Outstanding Contribution to Tourism Last year and the Customer Service category the year before at the Bournemouth Tourism Awards, which is good recognition of our continuous work to excel in that area.”

It’s been a successful year for the BIC and Pavilion, what with making the finals of the South West Tourism Excellence Awards, in the Business Tourism category last month and being the only UK resort venue to make the finals of international award, the International Association of Congress Centres Apex Award for the World’s Best Congress Centre earlier this year.

Tyers adds: “With our schedule of entertainment events at both venues, including international artists and bands like Oasis and The Feeling, comedian Lee Evans and much more, we consider ourselves the leading entertainment venues on the South Coast.”
