Sunday 6th September marked the Bournemouth International Centre’s (BIC) 25th birthday! And Saturday saw former England International rugby player Kyran Bracken, who won ITV’s Dancing on Ice in 2007, light up the celebrations with a special raffle. He was helped by celebrity friend, investigative journalist Donal MacIntyre. Lucky winner, Tracey Widdicombe and her daughter Chloe received the top prize of 25 free tickets to BIC shows, worth over £700!
Five lucky runners up also won five tickets each to BIC shows worth nearly £150; they were Paul Burns’ daughter Lauren, Lyn Shields and Charlotte Horlock. The odds were low but twin brothers Lewis and Darren Mullan, who are frequent visitors to the BIC, both had their raffle tickets drawn and also won the runners up prize of five tickets each!
The raffle was drawn on Saturday afternoon, after the matinee performance of Kyran Bracken’s Ice Party at the BIC. The evening performance marked the end of the show’s two week run at the BIC and also the BIC’s 25th birthday with a gala performance including special celebrity guests Chris Fountain, Duncan James and Suzanne Shaw.
Hundreds of people crowded into the BIC’s foyer to take part in the raffle, after 25 tickets had been given out by the ticket office each day during the 25 days leading up to the raffle. After the draw the winner and runners up blew out the candles on a big birthday cake, whilst the crowd joined in for a chorus of Happy Birthday to celebrate the BIC’s 25th!
Gail Collins, Event Sales and Marketing Manager at the BIC and Pavilion, said: “The raffle was a massive success. We’re really pleased that so many people turned out to take part in the event and it was a great way of celebrating the BIC’s 25th birthday. Here’s to the next 25 years of bringing you the best!”
