Pavilion’s 12th Autumn Wedding Fayre was Buzzing!

The sun was certainly shining for the Pavilion’s 12th Annual Autumn Wedding Fayre last weekend; the event attracted nearly 12% more visitors than it did the previous year!

The wedding show ran from Saturday 27th (10.00am-5.00pm) until Sunday 28th September (11.00am-4.00pm), in the Pavilion’s heritage Ballroom and Lucullus Room. Nearly 1,500 people flocked to the wedding fayre on the Saturday and Sunday remained busy with around 1,000 visitors. It went off with a bang on Saturday morning when a pink limousine Hummer pulled up outside the Pavilion to start the show!

Exhibitions Project Manager at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and Pavilion, Louise Burridge, has been working in the exhibitions team for nearly 20 years. Louise was part of the team responsible for creating the wedding fayre concept.

Louise says: “We were blessed with beautiful weather for the fayre and this helped draw the crowds to the fayre. The team started this event 12 years ago and the show’s success, with nearly a 12% increase in ticket sales, just shows how popular and relevant it still is. We’ve proved we are the hottest and biggest wedding fayre in Bournemouth and the surrounding area; here’s to next year!”

Over 80 wedding specialists exhibited - from top hats to top tables, florists to photographers, catering to cars, bridal wear to invitations and saxophonists to harpists - every wedding need was met under one roof! Daily Bridal shows, demonstrating the latest fashions for all the wedding party, took place on both days.

Visitors were able to enter a competition by completing a short questionnaire. There were two competition winners from the event, the top prize was a two night stay at the Langtry Manor in Bournemouth and the runner-up prize was a bottle of champagne! Autumn Wedding Fayre visitor, Catherine Hollis said: “The show was certainly buzzing! I came all the way from Winchester to visit the show and was able to pick up some great ideas and make good contacts for my wedding next year. I even purchased a couple of things – just don’t tell my fiancé!”

Don’t forget, there’s a further opportunity to visit the Spring Wedding Show at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) from 30th January until 1st February 2009!
