BIC Bride of the Year
For those who got engaged on Valentine’s Day, and other fiancées, a date for the diary is the popular Autumn Wedding Fayre which returns to the Bournemouth Pavilion over the weekend of 27 and 28 September.
Hundreds of brides-to-be recently attended the successful Wedding Show at the BIC which saw Rachel Bunce from Salisbury scoop the Bride of the Year title. Rachel, 26, a small animal veterinary surgeon, held her wedding to Anthony, an assistant retail manager, at Sandbanks in Poole last year.
Rachel says: “We met at a friend’s party eight years ago, and it sounds really cheesy, but we both knew we would get married.” A year after meeting, Rachel spent six years at vet school in Liverpool. “We took it in turns to drive the 200 mile trip up and down the M6, or I’d have to catch the 5.30am train from a very cold Bournemouth station – it was horrid every time we said goodbye.
“Our wedding day was 100 per cent perfect, and the honeymoon at DisneyWorld was perfect too. We both worked very hard to save up for our day, and we are now working towards a deposit for our first home.”
The Autumn Wedding Fayre at the Pavilion in September promises thousands of ideas for successful nuptials from florists and fashion cakes to venues and vehicles whether it’s a traditional or contemporary wedding, large or small ‘do’. And the fayre is not just for brides, but for anyone organising an event or party for an anniversary or other celebration.
For winning, Rachel and husband Anthony won £1,000s in prizes including a romantic hotel break, champagne, hairdressing, portrait photography and floral bouquets.
And for those planning further ahead, the BIC Wedding Show is scheduled for 30 January to 1 February 2009.
