Busy Times Ahead for the BIC
The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) has a busy couple of weeks ahead what with hosting the Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards (TSI) Conference and Exhibition and welcoming back the Local Government Association (LGA) for the ninth time!
Combined, the events are estimated to inject £4 million into Bournemouth’s economy through business tourism.
The Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards Conference and Exhibition has over 1,000 registered delegates but is expecting to attract around 3,000 visitors in total. It is the leading consumer affairs and Trading Standards event in Europe run over three days from Tuesday 24th June to Thursday 26th June. There will be 100 exhibitor displays, 34 mini theatre sessions, main plenary sessions and the Young Consumer of the Year Competition.
Tony Northcott, TSI Lead PR Officer said: “We are looking forward to coming back to the BIC, holding our first event there in 12 years. It ticked all the right boxes for what we were looking for in terms of capacity, location and accommodation.”
Old friend to the BIC, the LGA is holding its ninth annual conference and exhibition next month, having first visited the Pavilion in 1984! The three day event starting on Tuesday July 1st is expecting 2,000 delegates and will finish with the Council Worker of the Year Awards Gala Dinner on Thursday 3rd July. The LGA’s annual conference has confirmed its 10th visit to the BIC, returning in 2010.
Edward Welsh, LGA Programme Director for Media and Campaigns, said: “We have established a strong relationship with the team at the BIC and always look forward to coming back and enjoying the superb restaurants and accommodation Bournemouth has to offer after a long day of debating!”
Delegate Reservations, part of the Bournemouth International Conference Bureau (BICB) acted as the accommodation agency for the event, assisting in booking hotels for the expected combined 3,000 delegates.
