BIC Promotes Boscombe’s Beach Pods at Meetings and Incentive Exhibition in London

The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and Bournemouth’s conference bureau, the BICB, exhibit annually at International Confex, the largest UK meetings and incentive travel exhibition in London. Currently making last minute preparations for next week’s exhibition is the BIC’s conferenece and exhibition sales team and the BICB’s management, who have taken a fun approach to selling Bournemouth and its meeting venues to the incentive market.

Clive Tyers, Head of Conferences, Exhibitions and Events at the BIC said: “We know how great Bournemouth is as a destination for business travelers and we wanted to get this message across in a fun way. The meetings industry has grown in strength and plays a massive part in the UK’s economy; something that venues around the country have picked up on. What was once the market place for traditional meeting space is now becoming flooded with unusual venues and exciting destinations and Bournemouth has to maintain its leading position. Developments like the Boscombe Overstrand are key selling points.”

The BIC is offering visitors to its stand at Confex the chance to bag themselves a beach pod; the lucky winner will get the use of a luxury HemingwayDesign Boscombe Beach Pod for a weekend, including accommodation, surf lessons, tickets to a show and dinner*! The BIC’s Confex competition and stand design are based on a tongue in cheek beach hut theme that ties in with their marketing campaign for this year; it plays on the idea that rather than using a beach hut, ‘there’s an easier way to have your meeting by the beach’, be it at the BIC or one of the many other suitable hotels or venues in Bournemouth.

Clive Tyers adds: “We’re looking forward to catching up with our clients over lemonade and ice cream at Confex, as well as making new business leads. Exhibitions can be very staid but we’re always keen to be different each year and go with a bold theme.
