BIC and Pavilion’s Late Night Walk Raises Over £1k for Charity

Earlier this month, in the middle of the night, a ten strong team of staff from the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and Pavilion - accompanied by their black Labrador mascot - raised £1,157.88 for Round Table Children’s Wish (RTCW), as part of the Midnight Wish Walk. Over 130 people took part in the charity walk and the event organisers are hoping to beat the £7,500 they raised last year, helped along by the BIC and Pavilion’s contribution.

The 10K walk from Bournemouth to Southbourne and back took place on Friday 5th June and the 10 staff members braved the late night conditions with pink bunny ears on. They were also armed with pom poms and wore Disney’s High School Musical T-Shirts in honour of the children’s summer show, which is on at the BIC in August. The BIC has also donated two family tickets for High School Musical to the charity.

Jane Pickernell, Accounting Technician at the BIC and Pavilion said: “As a group we were part of the Midnight Wish Walk last year, raising over £600 and winning Top Corporate Fundraisers; the award encouraged us to up our game and raise even more money this year! It’s a great charity and fun was had by all.”

Round Table Children’s Wish is a national charity based in Bournemouth that grants wishes to children throughout the UK suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Founded in 1990, the charity has granted over 1285 wishes to date.

Davina Nichols, Fundraising Coordinator at Round Table Children’s Wish said: “The girls at the BIC and Pavilion did an incredible job raising over £1k, we are really gratefully for their continued support. The money raised by the Midnight Wish Walk will go towards granting wishes to children locally.”

The all female team raised £1,157.88 through sponsorship donated by BIC and Pavilion work colleagues, family and friends. Visit www.rtcw.org or call 01202 514515 to donate or to organise a fundraising event for Round Table Children’s Wish.

Wishes funded by last year’s walk included a youngster meeting Simon Cowell, trips to Disneyland Paris, a dolphin swim, a holiday to meet Santa in Lapland, the gift of a laptop and a visit from a much-loved friend flown in from Australia.
