BIC team win Labour Party vote!
Yesterday’s announcement that the Labour Party has chosen Bournemouth to host their Annual Conference at the Bournemouth International Centre and Pavilion in 2013 has been welcomed by the BIC team who faced stiff competition from other UK venues in a lengthy competitive bid process.
Clive Tyers, Head of Conferences and Events at the BIC/Pavilion, co-ordinated Bournemouth’s proposal with several of the town’s leading hotels and commented, “We are of course delighted that Labour are returning to Bournemouth. The Labour Party Conference team first contacted us back in March to discuss future options for their conference after such a successful event in 2007. We knew that we would be up against the UK’s major cities, but once again the BIC’s reputation for hosting large conventions in the UK’s number 1 resort has paid dividends.
It is particularly pleasing to receive this news now, just as the BIC reaches it’s 25th Birthday, proving once again that we continue to ‘punch above our weight’ in the UK Conference sector.”
The Conference is expected to bring more than 12,000 delegates, exhibitors, contractors, media and business ambassadors to Bournemouth, boosting the area’s economy by an estimated £18 million.
Councillor Bob Chapman, Portfolio Holder for the BIC/Pavilion says, “This excellent business win once again emphasises the value that Bournemouth offers the many organisations that bring their events to our town. Despite the current economic difficulties, the BIC’s diary for Conference bookings continues to be buoyant.”
