Actor and singer Peter Andre says that being a part of The Very Best of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons has been as personal as it is exhilarating.
While his career has spanned music, theatre and television, this tour has reconnected him with the soundtrack of his childhood.
Growing up on Australia’s Gold Coast, Andre remembers hearing songs blaring from beachside speakers at weekends - music he assumed belonged to the Beach Boys, only later realising just how many were Frankie Valli classics. “Frankie Valli was an integral part of my childhood,” he says. “Every time I hear those songs, I’m taken straight back there.” That deep personal connection, combined with Valli’s extraordinary legacy, made joining the tour irresistible and even, he admits, a little self-indulgent. “I get to stand on stage singing the songs I grew up with.”
The show celebrates not just the hits, but the stories behind them and Andre is convinced audiences will be surprised by just how much of the music they already know. Songs like Grease, written by the Bee Gees, are often assumed to belong to someone else entirely. “People don’t always realise which songs are Frankie Valli until they’re in the theatre,” he explains. And when they realise that they’re going to be singing along to favourites including Beggin’, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You and, of course, Grease, the audiences go wild!
Importantly, the tour attracts all generations. Parents arrive steeped in nostalgia, keen to relive their youth, while children, often brought along reluctantly, end up swept up in the music. “They think they’re there for their mum and dad,” Andre laughs, “but by the end they’re joining in too!”
For Andre, performing these iconic songs is both a privilege and a challenge. “They’re big shoes to fill,” he says, “but I love being on stage and being given that opportunity.” It’s that shared sense of joy, nostalgia and energy that he believes makes the tour unmissable.
“If you’re wondering whether to book tickets,” he says, “don’t think any further, just book it. Audiences leave on such a high. It’s a great night out, and you won’t regret it.”
